How to Spend your Sembreak Vacation Meaningfully

Sembreak is one of the most awaited period of most students, especially those busy college students! But when this period approaches, it seems that the days just passed by. Most students were not able to maximize their long vacation.

Create a schedule of your planned activities. You have one or two weeks to spend (minus the days you need to get your grades and enroll for the next semester), so it is good if you have the list of what you want to do.

You don't need to spend too much money to enjoy this short vacation. Some youth even make money during vacations!

Here are some tips on how you can have a valuable sembreak vacation:

1. Visit your old classmates and friends

After highschool graduation, some of your barkadas have gone through different schools to pursue your different preferred courses. This could be a good time for your mini reunion. Just a simple kamustahan or overnight movie marathon will be fantastic!

2. Attend relatives

Since sembreak includes All Saints and All Souls day, it is good to visit not just your beloved ones who passed away, but also those relatives who live far from your places.

3. Write reflection

Recall your achievements on the first semester. Also acknowledge your weak points, and think of ways how you can improve yourself.

4. Read books

I know this might sound boring to some youth out there, but I encourage you to read books. Fiction (fantasy novels) will make you relax and "out-of-this-world". Non-fiction and self-help books will make you see deeper the beauty of life. Choose books that will give value to you.

5. Prepare for your subjects on the next semester

Yeah, this is more boring than the previous one, you might think. But if you want to pass all the subjects on the next sem, you should take them seriously. This short vacation is nice time to prepare. I'm not telling you to spend all your days to study. Maybe 3 to 5 days will do, depending on you.

6. Do something you have missed

You have been busy on your studies before, so this is a great time for you to do those things you missed - play instruments, do outdoor activities.

7. Volunteer

The universe need your help each day. There are lots of blessings you can receive if you volunteer. You can be a choir, lector, server in your church.

8. Look for something you can earn from

If you have a not-so-busy schedule for the next sem, maybe you can be a working student! Start looking for a part time job this short vacation. I started doing an online writing job (part time) in October 2011, during our sembreak too.

With these tips, I hope you can have more meaningful sembreak!
